December public holidays and New Year's impact on freight schedules

Public holidays cause changes to transport schedules in all modes of transport. Anticipation of freight orders is recommended. The CHS offices are closed on Finland's Independence Day, December 6, 2024, the Christmas holidays, and January 1, 2025, and Epiphany, January 6, 2025.

CHS offices and customer service will be closed on Friday, December 6, 2024, due to Finnish Independence Day. Our offices will be open as normal on Monday, December 9, 2024. Due to the public holiday, unloading and distribution of import shipments will be postponed to the beginning of week 50.

During Christmas week, our offices will be open on Monday, December 23, 2024, and Friday, December 27, 2024. In Week 1, our offices will be closed on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, for New Year’s Day.

Sea freight

There are no sea export shipments from Finland in week 52. Cargo will be unloaded during the Christmas week on Monday, December 23, 2024 and Friday, December 27, 2024. During the turn of the year, cargo will move normally, except for January 1, 2025.

Air freight

Air freight will move as usual during Christmas week. However, air carriers have limited truck departures to the mainland. Plan ahead: Please place air freight orders well in advance of Christmas week to ensure timely delivery.

Road Freight

Please note that the momentary congestion caused by public holidays can also cause delays in road transport.

Distribution of import shipments arriving from Europe to Finland will begin after the Christmas holidays on Friday, December 27, 2024, and continue the following week (Week 1).

Road exports to Europe

Road freight shipments from Finland to Europe will occur in weeks 49 and 50, depending on the destination. In weeks 51 and 52, export loadings will be limited. Week 1 export pickups for road freight will take place on the following days: Monday, December 30, 2024 Tuesday, December 31, 2024 Thursday, January 2, 2025 Friday, January 3, 2025.

At the turn of the year, traffic in Europe is less than normal, which can lengthen transport times for both imports and exports.

The CHS offices will also be closed on Epiphany Monday, January 6, 2025, which may affect pickups and deliveries in Finland that week.
