During the holidays, the Chinese are on vacation, so most businesses and factories are closed. As the country quiets down for Golden Week, most airlines and shipping companies also adjust their schedules and cancel their departures.
The Chinese customs authorities do not accept import clearances during public holidays. Golden Week causes global delays in Chinese freight in terms of goods shipments and imports on both sides of the holiday week.
